The Davenport Noon Optimist Club, chartered in 1940, is one of the oldest established Optimist Clubs in Iowa. We raise over $150,000 annually to support our projects through the Avenue of Flags Program, and annual Christimas Tree Sales. Although we are a part of an international organization, we are also independent. We determine our own projects, what organizations we support, and how our funding is used. We also have our own nonprofit foundation to continue our legacy for generations to come.
Our purpose is to:
-
Develop optimism as a philosophy of life
-
Inspire respect for law
-
Promote patriotism and friendship amoung all people
-
Aid and encourage the development of youth
Our upbeat outlook, and our commitment to creating a more optimistic future for kids is what differentiates us from an other volunteer opportunity. From sponsoring youth athletic events to conducting oratorical contests for young people--we are responding to the needs in our community.
Although we come from all walks of life, our members share one common trait. We know that we can make a difference in the lives of others.
